German new residential prices rise 8.5% in May (Fonte: pie-mag.com - 11/06/2012)

Offered prices for new German condominiums were rising at a 12-month rate of 8.5% in May, according to the IMX index produced by a widely-used house-buying website Immobilienscout24. Prices rose in May alone by 0.7%.
Rises were similar in existing home prices - up 6.3% since May 2011 and by 0.6% compared to April 2012. Immoscout24 said the price driver for all German residential property remains very favourable mortgage rates and the turbulence in financial markets. Rents have also risen, and in nationwide aggregate were 1.8% higher in May over the prior 12 months and 0.2% up on the month alone.
While in Munich (+13.6%) and Cologne (+16.7%) above all prices of new housing units rose strongly, existing home price increases were strongest in Hamburg (+16.3%), Berlin (+16.0%) and Frankfurt (+10, 2%). Frankfurt was the only location of the top five major conurbations in Germany where new house prices fell, by 0.8% since May 2011.
