Già diversi mesi fa vi avevo fatto vedere le immagini di una delle città fantasma dell’immensa Cina. Una di quelle cose che mettono fortemente in dubbio la sostenibilità del modello cinese e che, per certi versi, mi fan persino dubitare dei dati che puntualmente ricevo sullo stato di salute dell’economia cinese.
In questo post vi avevo presentato ORDUS, con un filmato veramente inquetante.
Oggi la BBC riprende in mano la pratica.

Genghis Khan Plaza is flanked by huge and imposing buildings.
Two giant horses from the steppes rise on their hind legs in the centre of the Plaza, statues which dwarf the great Khan himself.
Only one element is missing from this vast ensemble – people.
There are only two or three of us in this immense townscape. Because this is Ordos, a place that has been called the largest ghost town in China.
Most of the new town buildings are empty or unfinished. The rampant apartment blocks are full of unsold flats. (Source)
La storia di Ordos inizia addirittura 20 anni fa. Da città mineraria si è trasformata in città…fantasma…. Come può essere sostenuta una situazione come questa? E quante altre Ordos ci saranno a nostra insaputa? Possibile che la Cina, paese dalle indubbie potenzialità, non possa subire gli effetti di una crescita economia troppo veloce e per certi versi rivoluzionaria?
